ERISA

The Lambos Firm represents joint labor-management and single-employer employee benefit pension and welfare plans.  We provide a wide array of services to these ERISA plans, from advice on tax and ERISA compliance to representation in legal actions. 
We prepare all required plan documents, including trust agreements, plans, summary plan descriptions, and summary annual reports.  We also prepare and submit filings to the Internal Revenue Service to obtain and subsequently maintain qualified and tax-exempt status for employee benefit funds.  The Lambos Firm also provides advice and counseling to plan trustees and administrators concerning the day-to-day administration of these plans.

The attorneys at The Lambos Firm have extensive ERISA litigation experience.  The firm has handled withdrawal liability cases involving more than $150 million in claims and has played an active role in cases that have established some of the leading legal principles that now prevail in pension withdrawal liability and other areas of ERISA law.

The Lambos Firm has represented employee benefit plans and other creditors in numerous bankruptcy proceedings.  A member of the firm has served on the creditors’ committee in a number of bankruptcies involving large companies and has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of reorganized companies emerging from bankruptcy.

TRAINING

The firm has produced many of the state-of-the-art equipment operator training programs that assist in teaching the safe operation of cargo handling equipment as well as orient new longshore workers to the marine terminal working environment. In addition, the Firm created the curriculum for a maritime security awareness course that is now used at marine terminals worldwide.
